In-Store Free Tasting Events
All tasting events listed in this section are free of charge and all wines poured (and not already on sale), can be purchased at a 20% savings. On our Semi-annual Wine & Food Expos, all still wines in the store (375ml, 750ml and 1.5L) are discounted 20%.
Here are a few suggestions if you will be attending one of these events - bring your own glass to increase your ability to assess the wines, and please refrain from wearing cologne or perfume, in order to increase others’ ability to assess. Also, for high-end customers, we often hold a special gems sampling in “the backroom".

Brunello '06 Pre-Offer
Saturday, February 5th, 12-5pm
Touted as perhaps the greatest vintage in Montalcino since 1990, '06 is a serious Brunello collector's vintage. As they are poised for release, we have access to a handful of samples from many of your favorite producers. Join us on Feb 5th to taste them and pre-order.
The Pacific Northwest
Saturday, February 12th, 12-5pm
With all this focus on California & New York, how about extending some love to Oregon and Washington! This tasting offers the most surprises each year. And it ain’t just Pinot and Merlot. We’ll explore deeper into what the northwest has to offer.
Chile vs. Argentina
Saturday, February 26th, 12-5pm
This has become a favorite rivalry. Not simply Carmenere vs Malbec, this tasting will explore the many levels of wine that hail from these two South American nations. So far, Chile leads 2 to 1. Could this be Argentina’s year to tie? You’ll decide.
Southwest France
Saturday, March 12th, 12-5pm
Here's an exciting category that doesn't often get the attention it deserves. Taste some compelling wines from Bergerac, Cahors, Gaillac, Buzet and several other appellations.
Bordeaux Day
Saturday, March 26th, 12-5pm
This tasting is always a favorite. And with so many ‘09s entering the market, it promises to be an event not to miss. We’ll do the decanting, you just taste.

Each year, literally hundreds of amazing wines come into the delivery door here at Suburban. Some allocations are so tight; we may only get 3 bottles of a particular “hard-to-find” gem. But, without fail, we save one bottle of every cult California Cabernet from each vintage that comes across our path, in order to bring you this amazing annual dinner. Sure we could sell them…but that wouldn’t be nearly as much fun!
Clearly our greatest off-site annual event is this pedal-to-the-metal wine-pairing dinner at Yorktown’s own Pratt’s Inn. 60 different elite ’07 California Cabs/Meritage blends will be distributed amongst 5 tables. Again this year, you’ll arrive 1 hour early to draft your own table’s selections. Then at 8, we indulge! You (and your tablemates) will be selecting from the below list (and what a list it is!!) the wines you will be drinking on that evening!
